New terms for payments in commercial transactions
From January 2020, there are new applicable rules regarding the matter of determining and meeting deadlines for due payments, especially by large entrepreneurs.
Maximum time limits for payments in commercial transactions depend on what kind of entity takes part in each transaction. The new rules restrict significantly the conditions of applying extended time limits for payments, among others:
- If the creditor of a large enterprise is a small or medium enterprise, the maximum time limit for payments is 60 days;
- If the debtor is a public entity, the maximum time limit for payments is 30 days (in case of a medical entity – 60 days),
- Among other entrepreneurs, as a rule, time limits for payments can exceed 60 days, provided that it does not cause any gross unfairness.
