The European Commission intends to close Article 7 procedure against Poland


The European Commission has informed that it has completed its analysis under the Article 7(1) TEU procedure, which has been conducted against Poland since 2017. This analysis is positive – the EC appreciated the legislative and non-legislative actions taken by Poland to address concerns related to, among others, the independence of judges.

The European Commission launched the Article 7 TEU procedure against Poland in December 2017. In the proposal initiating the proceedings, the EC presented its concerns regarding Poland's respect for the rule of law.
