In recent years, Poland’s labor market has seen a notable shift in the composition of its foreign workforce. According to the “Polish Labor Market Barometer” by Personnel Service, the share of employers hiring Ukrainian workers has dropped from 43% to 28%. This decline is especially visible in small businesses (only 6%), compared to medium (32%) and large companies (46%).Some text
At the same time, there is a rising number of workers from Belarus and Asian countries such as Nepal, India, and the Philippines. In the second half of 2024 alone, over 173,000 work permits were issued, mostly for citizens from Asia and South America.
This trend reflects demographic challenges and labor shortages in Poland. According to Gi Group, more than 55% of employers consider hiring foreigners essential to tackle population aging. Despite obstacles like bureaucracy, language barriers, and cultural differences, opening up to an international workforce is proving crucial for Poland’s economic growth.
